Summer is here and the latest round of improvements to the She Shed are a wrap. It’s hard to stay cool this time of year but thankfully we have lots of new seating in the shade, fans, cold AC, a fridge to keep drinks cold, a new used bigger smart TV and free wifi for our volunteers, students, patrons and day tourists to enjoy. Stop by, learn more about our program offerings, pick up some free island real estate info and check out our merch! You can shop for shirts, hats, stickers, magnets, postcards, beverages and more. Our hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11:30-4:30, otherwise by appointment. Also, be sure to browse our new shop online, where we are having a 50% OFF clearance sale!

Our first born colt has just graduated to his great destiny, to be owned, loved and spoiled by my Goddaughter in Charleston. We knew they were a match made in heaven a long time ago, the timing was finally right to make it happen. These two have been bonded since Mateo hit the ground in 2017 and we are so proud of how far both of them have come, we are cheering for you as you continue to make progress together, we can’t wait to visit soon!

Mira and Rosa are traveling to their forever homes, on a beautiful farm near Clemson today. Congratulations to Cindy Malphrus whose family has a rich history with the breed. She initially inquired with us about purchasing one, but after careful consideration, why buy just one when you can buy two? We are especially flattered that we were recommended to Cindy by the owner of Stella (Estelita Scurry), the very first Marsh Tacky foal born in our program in 2017. We are excited to watch you grow!

Breeze, owned by Wylie Bell, just participated in an exchange program of sorts with us, where she was brought to Daufuskie to be bred to our stud Louie, and instead of a stud fee we were able to use her in our trail riding and lesson program. This smart mare has many accolades and accomplishments. Wylie and Breeze have won the Marsh Tacky Beach Races on multiple occasions and have participated in tons of trail rides, shows, clinics and hunts. The lesson kids adored her very much. Breeze is expecting to foal October 2024, we’re excited! If you think you have a mare that might be a good fit for a similar breeding exchange, contact us directly.

The culture, history and heritage that the Marsh Tacky represents belongs to all of us and it should be celebrated by everyone!
