Thank You for Giving
Why would you want to give to Daufuskie Marsh Tacky Society? With all of the needs and causes in the world today, what is it about what we’re trying to do that makes us worthy of your contribution? DMTS’s founder and director believes it is because horses saved her life and she wants to pay it forward to others. One of our greatest visions is to make the benefits of equine oriented programs accessible to underserved and at-risk individuals. Throughout history, the Marsh Tacky served as the common people’s horse. Ironically today, they are critically endangered and for most families, the barriers to entry into horse sports are too high. With your help, we can increase accessibility to equine oriented programs to help foster the therapeutic benefits that only working with horses can provide. Together, we can create a win-win solution for the so-called common horses and the humans that they serve, well into the future and beyond.
There are many ways to support our organization. Your donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Larger gift givers may receive special membership benefits, VIP event invitations and legacy naming opportunities. Just contact us to discuss your ideas, we will be happy to get creative with you. The horses and our program participants appreciate it very much.
Cash Donations
You can give to our general operating fund or your donations may be earmarked towards a special purpose. Helping us to keep the lights on or cover routine expenses is not the most exciting thing to contribute towards but it is essential to our operations. Perhaps you would like to contribute to our youth lesson or adult horse therapy programs. Otherwise, you can chose to give towards our capital improvement projects at Heritage Hall. Either way we can cannot thank you enough!
Recurring Monthly Donations
There is no gift too small. Consider a monthly recurring donation to sponsor a Marsh Tacky. For example, here are some of the routine costs that we incur which you could help with:
- $10 – One salt lick block
- $35 – One bag of supplemented grain
- $60 – One farrier trim
- $85 – One gallon of fly spray
- $125 – One round bale of hay
In-Kind Donations
We welcome in-kind donations like farm equipment, construction materials, supplies, tack, feed and hay. We can help arrange pick up, shipping and barging as needed. Your donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law for their fair market value.
Other Ways to Give
Do you have some time and a professional skill set to give? We hope you consider getting involved. We can use help with book keeping, data entry, communications and grant writing which can be done remotely. Additionally we are seeking local volunteers to help with day to day duties, and board members to help guide us and serve on committees. Please contact us today!
