Carolina “Mama” Moon

  • Carolina “Mama” Moon

    Our Horses

Carolina Moon immediately earned the nickname “Marshside Mama” when she joined the DMTS herd along with Flaca from Jeanette Beranger’s farm in May 2016. She has a keen woods sense and immediately took to teaching Lucero, then a yearling, some manners when she was introduced to him as pasture buddies at that time. Born in 2007 she has earned her been-there-done-that attitude and has been a tremendous asset to our program. From beach rides to deer hunting to lessons and pony rides, this girl has done it all with a heart of gold and promise of food rewards. She is the mother of the second and fifth Marsh Tacky foals to be born on Daufuskie in decades, sired by Lowther’s Lucero, and she is expecting again in 2025. She is by breeder Lee McKenzie, off of his stallion Cowboy and out of his mare Bee Bop.
