It’s barge day again. Everything larger than what you can carry onto the passenger ferry must come on the barge to get to Daufuskie. Pallets, trailers, golf carts, lumber packages, all of these things get to the island by barge. You are charged based by square footage of the footprint that what you’re bringing over takes up on the barge deck. One pallet of feed or one round bale of hay costs about $65 each to come over. For one round bale of hay that’s almost 75% of the cost of the hay to come over!
